On July 24th 2008, the New York Times Home section published an article titled "What's Lurking in Your Countertops?" It is disappointing to read such remarks that suggest anyone exposed to a natural stone can be threatened with carcinogen Radon gas emissions. Fact is, as Americans and citizens of the Earth we are all under a small exposure to Radon and other natural gasses. In terms of building materials, radon emissions from concrete, cement and gypsum could be of greater concern. After extensive research we have found that the report was funded by two companies that manufacture synthetic stone countertops. The beauty of granite is that it is all-natural, durable, clean and safe. The Marble Institute of America (MIA) also find these allegations to be ludicrous and have pioneered the Truth About Granite Fund. If granite countertops were to be a major health concern, the government and scientific community would have conducted major studies of the gas emissions over 10 years ago when the initial "scare" arose. The following links are provided to assure our clients and all concerned consumers that this fear is not legitimate.

We at The Rock Countertops, have been working with granite for over 8 years and have yet to see any heath problems from our fabricators and installers who have more than 15 years experience in this field. We will continue to research any updates on the gas emissions for our customers satisfaction. God would not have created such beauty and safe igneous rock to be slandered upon for economic reasons.
May God Bless!
